I can't start to talk about all the cycles I can't break in my life I get to the part where I know that I know I remember what isn't right Do you feel like me? Everybody's suffering and they can't help it you go as you feel you should. The water sings the tide will bring a song of thunder you go as you feel you should. Haven't they told you? Didn't they tell you? I haven't heard it since I've gone, I haven't heard it. Everybody's suffering and they can't help it you go as you feel you should The water sings the tide will bring a song of thunder you go as you feel you should

I try to express all the pleasure and pain 'cause why are we here if we don't communicate? But it feels like I just push everyone away (I can't stop the demons in you) Maybe I'm better off dead feels like no one could handle what's inside my head only the ocean makes me feel sane 'cause the truth scares everybody away The more honest I am, the more afraid I feel Nobody will be around Then I ask myself, "What would the ocean say?" Anything that you feel Is simply what you feel This pain, it's hard to explain well just let it all go, let it all flow, let it all flow Like to articulate The feelin' that I get When we're together Like how can I miss you When you're standin' right there I feel like I'm grievin' even thought I know you're not goin' anywhere I will spot the truth, but it's up to you 'cause either way we'll have a break-up or a breakthrough I try to express all the pleasure and pain (I need to let you know) 'cause why are we here if we don't communicate? But it feels like I just push everyone away (I can't stop the demons in you) (I need to let you know) Maybe I'm better off dead feels like no one could handle what's inside my head only the ocean makes me feel sane 'cause the truth scares everybody away Maybe I'm better off dead (So, I need to let you know) 'cause no one could handle what's inside my head (I need to let it go) I can spot the truth, but it's up to you either way we need to break-up or have a breakthrough What would the ocean say?

Well I'll give you some perspective (to grow, to grow, to grow, to grow, to grow) To grow is to be seen To grow is to be understood Not just by others But by your self Listen do you hear that? It's me It's you It's us The first time I felt down I felt nothing but the ground and when I got up, my breath coming back to me, I took a look around (Sometimes, all we need is a little perspective Well, I'll give you some perspective) Listen do you hear that? It's me It's you It's us To grow is to be seen To grow is to be understood Not just by others But by your self "Manzanita with your strong branches reach out for the sun"

about

This is Volume I of The Branching Out Project, a structured compilation album and digital zine that brings together the visual and audible arts. Each volume is inspired by a series of prompts and audio samples.

50% of the proceeds will go towards the contributors within this first Volume. The other 50% will go towards the Marsha P. Johnson Institute and Black Trans Femmes in the Arts. Be sure to check out more of their mission on their websites:

- marshap.org
- www.btfacollective.org

This first volume is inspired by the first of four releases in Sean Emmett Thompson's Manzanita Series, entitled "Bloom."

From the artist:

"Bloom depicts the season of Spring through the experience of the Manzanita tree. With that perspective in mind, we experience naive and frail growth. We experience a burst of passion, but then questions and doubts begin to surface. We start to wonder if what we want, or what we are, is the truth. Things are starting to change."

Using this prompt and samples from the album, all the artists submitted work inspired by the concept relating to this concept.

Included in the download of the music is a Digital Zine - please be sure not to miss it!

Thanks for downloading <3
